I BELIEVE IN.. ? (BEWEGUNG DER BEDEUNTUNG)

Now almost universally despised as a symbol of Nazism, before it was subverted to promote the tenents of National Socialism, the Swastika represented light and hope. The installation shows the circulation of the Swastika through different cultures. The intention of the work is a retrospective of this twelve thousand years old symbol which represents prosperity, eternity and the Sun in many ancient and modern cultures. The installation was inspired in part by the dark history of the Schloss-bergstollen, where it was originally placed.
